BGP Provided full civil and structural design services for this 6 storey Headquarters for Home Group, one of the UK’s largest social housing providers. Situated in central Newcastle, adjacent St. James’ park, the location provided many constraints and challenges. Firstly, the building wraps around the infamous Strawberry pub which had to remain operational throughout construction works. Secondly, the cities underground metro system had one of it’s lines run directly below the proposed site. Point cloud surveys had to be adopted in order to locate the line which had to be avoided when the site was piled. The project was highly commended for Constructing Excellence’s Building Project of the Year.
