The renovation of the landmark building was a key element of the overall regeneration of Whitley Bay. Historic features were saved and the ceiling of the central space was removed to allow people to look upwards and see the dome in all its glory for the first time in a century. The building has now turned to commercial use, ensuring a sustainable future of Whitley Bay’s heritage. It is home to family-friendly restaurants, tearooms, champagne bar and space for weddings and conferences. This scheme has been very well recognised going on to scoop 9 awards in various construction awards evenings nationwide.
